Care Guide

Your Ruya pieces are made from premium natural fabrics — linen, cotton, and cotton blends. Natural fabrics reward gentle care. Here is how to keep yours looking exactly as they did on day one. Linen Pieces Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle (30°C maximum). Use a mild detergent — nothing with bleach or brighteners. Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the outer surface. Remove promptly from the machine and reshape while damp. Hang to dry in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade the natural linen tones over time. Linen will wrinkle as it dries — this is normal and part of its character. For a crisper finish, iron while still slightly damp on a medium-hot setting. Do not tumble dry. The heat shrinks linen fibres and sets creases permanently. Cotton & Cotton Blend Pieces Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Like linen, cotton prefers cool water and a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they break down the natural cotton fibres over time and reduce the garment's lifespan. Lay flat or hang to dry. If ironing, use a medium setting and iron inside out for embroidered or printed pieces. General Care Wash similar colours together. Even the most colourfast natural dyes can transfer in the first few washes — particularly darker pieces. Wash new pieces separately the first time. Store folded in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging knitwear and wide-leg trousers for long periods — gravity stretches the fabric at the hanger points. Treat stains immediately with cold water. Never rub — blot gently from the outside in. Hot water sets most stains permanently. Dry Cleaning We recommend dry cleaning only for pieces with significant embellishment or structure. For all other Ruya pieces, gentle home washing is completely appropriate and preferred. If you have a question about a specific piece, reach out at any time through our contact page — we are always happy to advise.
